A lot of roofing problems stem from previous repairs that were never done properly in the first place. We spend time at the start of every job finding the actual source of a fault, not just patching what is visible. On an older Norfolk property with a clay-plain-tile roof, for example, the leak you can see on the ceiling is often coming in several courses above where the damage is obvious on the outside.
Before we price any job we get up and look properly. That means checking the condition of the felt underlay, the battens, the flashing around any chimney stacks, and the state of the ridge and hip tiles, not just counting slates. We then explain what we have found in plain language so you can decide what needs doing now and what can wait.
We use materials suited to each roof and each property - matching existing clay or concrete tiles where repairs need to blend in, and using lead or code-compliant alternatives for flashing rather than taking shortcuts with mastic sealant. Mastic fails within a few years in frost and driving rain; doing the job right means it stays watertight for far longer.
